Local Committee President's Address
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is for us and for the Portuguese Society of Pediatric Respiratory Disease, a great pleasure to welcome in Lisbon the 16th edition of the International Congress on Pediatric Pulmonology (CIPP XV).
The CIPP has become already a big reference for the pediatric respiratory science in the world and Lisbon is an illuminated city, so they will go very well together.
Lisbon is the world's 6th most popular destination for international congresses, according to ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association). The almost constant presence of sunshine and the River Tagus transforms the Portuguese capital into a mirror of a thousand colours highlighting the city’s unique architecture and beauty.
As we walk through Lisbon with a history that spans back thousands of years, we find streets filled with heritage monuments, and characteristic neighborhoods where the city first developed and can still be experienced at its most genuine level, from the monumental zone of Belém, near where the Meeting will be held, to the modern area of the Parque das Nações.
You can also experience the city’s parks, gardens, belvederes, cafés and esplanades, or simply enjoy the pure pleasure of being in Lisbon, through its gastronomy and Fado!
There are so many things to see and do in Lisbon that you will have trouble to choose, but the successful Program that is being prepared will surely attract the attention of all the paediatricians with special interest in pediatric pulmonology.
Hoping to meet you in Lisbon,
Professor Teresa Bandeira
President, Local Committee
