Local Committee President's Address
Dear Friends, Cher.e.s Ami.e.s,
We have the immense pleasure of inviting you to join us at the next CIPP meeting in Nice, FRANCE, the birthplace of this prestigious Conference. This will be the 19th Edition of the meeting, 27 years after the first one. Since then, “beaucoup d’eau a coulé sous les ponts » (a lot of water has flowed under the bridge), and “beaucoup de feuilles de papier ont été noircies » (many words have been put on paper). Although many participants form part of Learned Societies, the CIPP is not permanently affiliated to any of these, but rather functions as a federation. In essence, the CIPP represents “collective intelligence” based on exchanges from physicians from 80 countries. I for one have benefited from the Scientific and Social aspects of the CIPP, which have guided my career. Despite the pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the show must go on. Now, more than ever, we need to show solidarity with all, learn from and with each other, share the right information with our peers who will not have the opportunity to join us, our patients, and all who seek our advice.
And Nice will the place to be since it has much to offer. Capital of the French Riviera, Nice is after Paris, the leading tourist destination in France. Nice is a dynamic city of 350 000 inhabitants, at the crossroads of Europe, the Mediterranean basin and the Orient. For over 150 years, Nice’s climate and light have attracted residents and artists from around the world. Its cultural heritage bears witness to the unique diversity of various epochs, spanning from classical to contemporary. Nice is thus a multifaceted destination. In the typical alleys or on the piazzettas, on the beaches bathed in light or in the shade of the wooded parks, in the bustle of the markets or the colourful gastronomy, during an aperitif on the terrace or a walk on the port, you will feel this irresistible desire to enjoy the present moment. On a larger picture, the territory of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolitan area draws from its geography and history a particular and shared identity, between the coastline, hills, valleys and mountains.
The tradition of the CIPP is to promote Young Investigators. Please send in your abstracts and do register early, in order to benefit from lower rates, and to help the organizing committee (Annie BIDART (Founding Mother) and Pauline ANTONIETTI (“toujours fidèle au poste” (always on the job)) to better prepare the meeting.
We look forward to seeing you in 2021.
President, Local Committee
