Thomas TRIAN

Thomas TRIAN

Dr. Trian is currently assistant professor in the university of Bordeaux within the Cardio-thoracic research center of Bordeaux. Since the beginning of his career, Dr Trian’s research has been focused on the physiopathology of asthma. He’s interested in cellular pathway and cell interaction which occurs and participate to the development of the disease. He started his research career in 2007 where he shows during his PhD that mitochondrial biogenesis was involve in bronchial smooth muscle remodeling in asthma. Following his PhD, he went in Sydney (Australia) for a 3 years’ postdoctoral position where he explores the cellular mechanisms of asthma exacerbation. He shows the role of rhinovirus infection of epithelial cells on bronchial smooth muscle b2 adrenoreceptor pathway deregulation. Since 2011, he is assistant professor in Bordeaux university where he’s exploring the interaction between epithelium and bronchial smooth muscle. On the pediatric point of view, he is exploring the role of mitophagy in asthmatic children smooth muscle cells and more recently the role of the rhinovirus type A and C in asthmatic children exacerbations.
